Lake Davis California

Lake Davis is one or even the West’s best trophy rainbow fisheries. Less then an hour from Reno and two hours from Sacramento. Lake Davis produces some large Rainbows each year. Make sure to pack some warm clothes or check your weather report before heading out. Fly fishing seems to be better on the west side of the lake, the points and coves on the East side do pretty good at certain times. If your thinking about taking your boat to cover more of the lake make sure to bring two anchors, the winds pick up in the afternoon. The best time of the year to fish at Lake Davis is from May til the end of July. The famous damsel fly larva brings the 6 and 7 pounds close to shore. Evenings and early mornings bring some exciting midge fishing, the fish get careless in pursuit of egg midges and pupae in the surface. Mid October provides some of the best fishing as it starts cooling down and a tremendous migration of snails  gets the large fish to bite. You will need a California fishing licence and trout stamp witch you can pick up just about any local stores, follow all Warnings and Safety Rules to stay SAFE…
